The Challenge
- Our client was in a competitive bid against much larger more established pipeline companies.
- All the other competitors in the bid were talking about a 2 - 3 year timeline.
- Our client needed reassurance that the project could be built to meet a condensed timeline of less than 24 months.
- That’s where Top Shelf Energy came in.
Execution
- After CapEx, Top Shelf Energy drew on our exceptional experience to move the project through engineering to create a design that would need fewer changes and would result in fewer delays.
- Our teams were in constant contact on both engineering design and construction to ensure the build was seamless.
The Solution
- Drawing on over 20 years of data as a project execution firm, Top Shelf Energy knew that an aggressive timeline could be achieved and the pipeline turned on much faster than what competitors in the industry was saying.
- Top Shelf Energy’s CapEx was so accurate and thorough, it removed any doubt that the project would be a success.
Highlights
- The Net Zero Connector Pipeline was completed and turned on in 17 months.
- Top Shelf Energy’s agility as a nimble firm meant we were able to move quickly and efficiently and keep costs much lower than our competitors.
- Top Shelf Energy is the only firm that could meet the necessary schedule and budget and is backed by a 20-year database of information.
“Top Shelf Energy provided turnkey construction management for the Net Zero Connector Pipeline. Their team supported the project right from the beginning with construction cost estimates, detailed engineering, creation of RFP scope packages, and bid evaluation services. There was high collaboration with land acquisition and regulatory teams to maintain an aggressive project schedule.
When the project was ready to start field work, Top Shelf Energy brought on field construction managers and inspectors for every phase of the process. With this project being schedule driven, they managed up to five simultaneous construction work fronts and right sized the inspector resourcing to ensure work was completed efficiently and thoroughly. During this time, they provided regular cost reports, recommendations for production efficiency, high level risk management, and support for change order management.
I would highly recommend working with Top Shelf Energy again as this allowed our company to successfully manage a pipeline construction project with few internal resources. Their access to resources, knowledge of the industry and years of experience significantly reduce cost, scope and schedule risk to pipeline projects.”
